What's Catching Our Eye, 2026

What's Catching Our Eye looks at how attention is caught, steered and converted into interaction inside commercial feeds. The advertisements, which appeared in the artist's feed on Alibaba, AliExpress and Temu, form a disturbing repertoire of drives translated into purchasable objects: next to ordinary desires come fantasies of the body, of control, of sexualisation and of domination, and attraction never quite separates from repulsion.

Their apparent randomness lets recurrences and connections surface. They are images generated or manipulated to interrupt the scroll and produce a gesture. The book takes a selection from them and puts it in sequence: what comes out is a landscape in which the line between human desire, automated production and AI slop is increasingly hard to draw.
